About the Item

A rare unique and stunning pair Art Deco hand painted patterned plates attributed to Charlotte Rhead and dating from 1925. The ceramic plates are blanks by George Jones and both are dated December 1925. Both have been uniquely hand painted with stylized floral patterns in bright bold colors with patterning to the underside. One plate has a series of heart shaped designs set within a floral border using brightly colored glazes against a dark blue ground with the blue extending under the base of the plate with a patterned finish to the under-side of the rim. The other plate has a stylized flower head centre again set against a dark blue ground again extending to the underside with a sprayed finish decorating the whole of the base. Both have painted artist monograms CTLR within hand painted border. Provenance: Acquired from the UK Art Market. In very good original used condition with light wear associated with age and use.
