About the Item

Rare Art Déco Goldscheider Art Ceramic Figurine around 1930. Zerline Balten, a Viennese dancer and actress, is depicted accompanying herself in her 'fantasy dance' on a banjo. The young lady is wearing a winter costume, flared top and skirt in bright violet, fur hems, also on the wide sleeves and as a ruff, a matching cap, leaning slightly to the right and playing the banjo, with a pierrot figure in green and a colorful suit decorated with spikes and flowers sitting at her feet, playing the cymbals. The figure is based on a stepped, beige round base with gray shading on the sides, artist's signature 'Dakon' on the pierrot's jacket. Designed by STEPHAN DAKON (1904 - 1997), one of the most important designerswho worked for the Goldscheider manufactory from 1924 until the mid-fifties.
