Berndt Friberg, Stoneware Blue and Black Large Vase, Gustavsberg , Sweden 1962
About the Item
Berndt Friberg, Large stoneware vase with dark brown and pale blue haresfur glaze, Gustavsberg , Sweden 1962 Impressed "Friberg" "G (hand) " Incised "d"
This is a large size vase, beautifully shaped with soft curves, dark brown and pale blue haresfur glazed by Berndt Friberg, a master potter at the Gustavsberg Porcelain manufactory in Sweden.
The entire vessel is covered with a pale blue glaze, over which a brown glaze is applied, mixing and flowing with each other. The brown glaze overlaps the pale blue and is almost black, covering the entire surface, but only the mouth shows a gradation of pale blue.
The shape is the standard bottle-shaped, but the curves of the body are soft, relaxed, and very beautiful.
This vase comes with a wooden box for storing traditional Japanese ceramic pieces.
The vessel has been examined by an expert by UV light and visual inspection to ensure that there are no repairs and that it is not twice kiln fired.
