Berndt Friberg, Stoneware Blue egg Vase, Gustavsberg, Sweden, 1960

About the Item

Berndt Friberg, Stoneware Egg vase with blue haresfur glaze, Gustavsberg, Sweden 1960 Impressed "Friberg" "G (hand) " Incised "b" The entire body is covered with a deep, dark blue glaze, over which a double layer of brown glaze has been applied, blending with each other and flowing gently throughout. The deep blue color is softly covered with a brown glazed surface in some places, creating a complex scene. The glaze has a fine, dusty hairline and flows beautifully down from the mouth to the base of the vase. The shape is of the beautiful standing type of Friberg's egg-shaped works, with the body nicely elongated vertically, and is large enough to have a beautiful presence. The glaze also has a very beautiful expression, making this an excellent example of an egg-shaped vase. The vessel has been examined by an expert by UV light and visual inspection to ensure that there are no repairs and that it is not twice kiln fired.
