Berndt Friberg, Stoneware Celadon Glazed Discus Vase, Gustavsberg, Sweden, 1965

About the Item

Berndt Friberg Stoneware a celadon glazed vase, Gustavsberg, Sweden, 1965, marked "Friberg," "G (hand)," inscribed "g." The entire vessel is covered with a celadon glaze, over which is a double layer of pale brown glaze, which mixes and flows beautifully. The glaze is partially visible from the shoulder of the vessel, where it flows thickly. The shape of the vase is of the disk type, with a trumpet-shaped mouth extending from the body of a shallow column, and this glass inkwell-like shape is almost unprecedented. It is a very rare Friberg piece with a very unusual shape. This vessel has been professionally UV and visually inspected to confirm that it has not been repaired and that it was not fired in a second kiln.
