Berndt Friberg, Stoneware Pale Blue Bowl, Gustavsberg, Sweden, 1956

About the Item

Berndt Friberg, Stoneware Pale Bowl with blue haresfur glaze, Gustavsberg, Sweden 1956 Impressed "Friberg" "G (hand) " Incised "Å" The entire body is covered with a brightly colored pale blue glaze and then a brown glazed over it, which mixes with each other and flows nicely. The pale celadon glaze flows over the entire surface with an ink painting-like expression. The hairline that appears in the glaze is fine and delicate, characteristic of Friberg's works produced in the 1950s. The pale celadon glaze flowing over the entire large vessel is very beautiful. It has a large bowl shape, and the rim is slightly distorted by hand-twisting. When viewed from above, it has a soft triangular shape. In good condition. The vessel has been examined by an expert by UV light and visual inspection to ensure that there are no repairs and that it is not twice kiln fired.

The glaze flows nicely both inside and out, and the glaze has a fine hairline. The rim has a nice gradation. The shape is that of a bowl with a regular circle rim, falling vertically from the rim and bending at the waist in the shape of a twilled bowl, a standard shape for Friberg's work. The style form is influenced by old Chinese ceramics...
