Berndt Friberg, Stoneware jar with red brown haresfur glaze, Gustavsberg , Sweden 1949 Impressed "Friberg" "G (hand) " Incised "S" This is a red brown haresfur glazed jar by Berndt Friberg, a master potter at the Gustavsberg Porcelain manufactory in Sweden. The entire vessel is covered with a reddish-brown glaze, which is then covered with an additional double layer of reddish-brown glaze covering the entire surface. The hairline of the glaze flows beautifully over the entire piece, giving it a perfect, seamless look. The glaze also flows like water in some areas, which is very nice. The shape of the piece is that of a long jar with an oval body and an outwardly open mouth. It is of the type produced from the late 40s to the early 50s, with a form strongly influenced by old Chinese ceramics. The vessel has been examined by an expert by UV light and visual inspection to ensure that there are no repairs and that it is not twice kiln fired.
