Ceramic vase by Charles Catteau Edition Boch 1930

About the Item

Glazed ceramic vase. Very beautiful blue polychrome enamelling, decorated with white spots. Published in the 1930s by Boch Charles Catteau (1980-1966) trained as a ceramic engineer at the Sèvres national factory and then worked there for two years. In 1904, he went to Germany, to the Nymphenburg porcelain factory near Munich. He was spotted by Boch Frères which was then seeking to renew the production of its Boch-Kéramis factory in La Louvière (Belgium). In 1907 he took charge of the decoration workshop, of which he remained responsible until his retirement in 1946. Charles Catteau will experience success, with international recognition during the international exhibition of modern decorative and industrial arts in Paris in 1925, obtaining a Grand Prize.
