French Sevres Style Jewelled Porcelain Coffee Can Hand Painted Flowers, Ca 1810

About the Item

This is a very beautiful jewelled coffee can all hand painted and gilded in the French Sevres style, possibly made by them and dating to the early 19th century, circa 1810. This coffee can is well potted and is nominally straight sided with a plain loop handle having fairly pointed attachments. The coffee can is jewelled with faux pearls set around an oval medallion of finely hand painted flowers all set against a lovely soft light blue ground. The faux pearls are set into a gilded border with a "Fleur-de-lis" outer border. There is further hand gilding to the upper rim, inner rim border and handle. The piece is unmarked to the base but is all in the French style with the jewelled detail a prominent feature of the Sevres factory. Overall a very distinctive, beautifully decorated coffee can.
