About the Item
This is a very decorative small rectangular serving platter by Mason's Ironstone, Lane Delph, England in the stylised Chrysanthemum pattern, dating to the very early period of Mason's ironstone, circa 1818.
The platter or dish is rectangular in shape with raised sides and a notched rim.
It is decorated in one of Mason's beautiful hand painted patterns called; Stylised Chrysanthemum, which is a rare and striking pattern in very bold blue, red and beige enamels with additional hand gilding, as documented on page 144 of:- A Guide to Mason's Patent Ironstone Patterns, circa 1813-1848, published by The Masons Collectors' club.
The pattern would have been transfer printed then hand-painted in the bold enamels.
The platter is fully marked to the base rim, with the early impressed mark stating: Masons Patent ironstone China in one line. dating to circa 1813 to 1820, with Mason's ironstone only starting in 1813.
