Very exceptional decorated Goldscheider Art Deco ceramic figure of the 1920's: Depiction of a standing, proudly looking to the side lady in oriental garb. She is wrapped in a large blue-green cloth that reaches down to the floor, the front of which is decorated with a stylized flower and leaf pattern decorated with bright colors and a white bird and, held in place by a headdress with an integrated animal head, covers her hair. Underneath she wears midnight blue harem pants, held by a belt made of black and white jagged ribbons, and a tight bustier hung with red chains. On a black, stepped oval base. The figure was inspired by the famous opera 'Aida' by Giuseppe Verdi, which tells the fate of the odalisque Aida, an Ethiopian king's daughter who was kidnapped as a hostage. Designed by Josef LORENZL (1892 - 1950), one of the most important designers who worked for the Goldscheider manufactory in the period of 1920-1940.
