Goldscheider Vienna Art Déco Figurine 'Adagio' by Josef Lorenzl, circa 1940
About the Item
The graceful, bare dancer with short, curly hair combed back is balancing on the toes of her right leg while she pulls the left up at an angle. The upper body is turned to the left, the gaze is directed further back, following her left arm stretched to the side, in which she holds one end of a large, triangularly folded cloth with blue poppy flowers behind her, with the other hand, elbow bent up to the side, holding the other end of the cloth.
On a black, slightly domed, stepped oval base.
Designed by Josef LORENZL (1892 - 1950), one of the most important designers
who worked for the Goldscheider manufactory in the period of 1920 - 1940.
This Model 8462 was created circa 1939.
