Handbuilt Ceramic Sculpture, Pod Composite 'Black Coal' in Matte Black

About the Item

Hand Built Ceramic Sculpture, "Black Coal". A composite of hollow, elongated, pointed oval or elliptical shapes, individually hand-formed clay parts, attached together and fused during the firing. This is a dark stoneware with a black underglaze revealing all the scrapes and marks of the clay underneath. The individual parts are all different, together they create a landscape inspired by the huge bare boulders of the Anza Borrego Desert. But wait, there is a piece that is not attached, encouraging interplay and variation. but begging the consideration of the individual piece and how it fits with the larger group. Fully hand made. Artist's signature chop underneath.

Hand built Ceramic Sculpture, in Gray/Green Underglaze. The Gray/Green is hard to capture: more dark gray than green, it has the feeling of the color sage green. The piece is a composite of hollow pods, elongated, pointed oval or elliptical shapes. They are individually hand-formed, attached together and fused during the firing. White stoneware clay with gray/green underglazes create a soft, powdery surface that still shows a bit of texture from the clay. It is not glazed. The Composite Series has an earthy presence, inspired by the huge bare boulders of the Anza Borrego...
