About the Item
Large painted Art Nouveau bronze vase from the early 1900s, fine Italian manufacture.
The vase has a round base with four thick, sinuous feet, reminiscent of those on old stoves. The four feet are grandly decorated: in fact, in addition to curling very gently, we also see a special treatment of the bronze, with machining and grooves. The frame of the base appears to be embroidered with a very fine and delicate circle pattern. Above this thin frame we see another frame, also spherical, but much more massive and eye-catching. Above this we see a narrowing that creates the actual base of the vase. The central body of the vase is also striking in shape and made of ceramic. Here we notice a splendid painting showing the meeting of two young people, a man and a woman, who are probably in love. She is painted in a very graceful pose, wearing a long cream-coloured robe and a pink shawl. He, on the other hand, approaches the damsel, placing a hand on her shoulder, exemplifying an intimate gesture that makes us think of a love affair. Both are depicted with a headdress, which would seem to date back to the 1600s. The scene is framed by bushes of white and pink flowers, indicating the purity of love.
Further up the side we see the two handles used to move the vase from one place to another: the attachment is made by the face of what would appear to be a man with a long beard, from whose head rises the sinuous bronze handle. The entire handle resembles still life, with very gentle leaves. The neck of the vase bears another very beautiful bronze frame. Internally we see a very light teal colour.
The large Liberty vase is suitable for sumptuous areas.
