A Large George Jones Majolica Cheese Bell with Daisys, Bees and Fence, ca. 1878
About the Item
A Large George Jones Majolica Cheese Bell and Stand, rendered as a beautiful summer's day, the domed lid and stand with a rustic fence and relief-molded daisies, wheat sheaves, and green-glazed leaves against a turquoise blue sky with bees, the branch-form handle with naturalistically molded and glazed blackberries and blossoms, the interior glazed in pink/lavender, the reverse glazed in tortoiseshell mottling with impressed factory date code 9D for September 1878.
Of the two sizes produced, this is the larger.

- Condition:Wear consistent with age and use. The stand has faint surface hairlines, two extending to the back. They are stable. The cover has one approximately .13-inch chip, which has been colored in. Overall in very good condition with no restoration. Crisply-molded.
