“Marselis” cup by Nils Thorsson

About the Item

Nils Thorsson trained at the Copenhagen Technical High School before joining Royal Copenhagen as an apprentice. He became a major designer for the Royal Porcelain Manufactory in Copenhagen from 1912 to 1975, working in the typically Danish mode of simplicity and functionalism. Of great versatility, he was also their most prolific creator of painted motifs. This Danish ceramic bowl/cup decorated with blue floral motifs is a typical work of the ceramist from the Marselis series. Signed under the base.
