About the Item

Antique Empire liquor set, beautiful early 19th century production circa 1815 composed of 6 facetted crystal bottles (Le Creusot manufacture) set into their original burr wood veneered box. Le Creusot used to be a major actor of glass manufacturing in France during 18th century and 19th century, together with Baccarat or Saint Louis. Le Creusot was very active during Empire and French Restoration period. Each bottle and its stopper bear the same number, and has a dedicated slot in the box, in order to be able to list the liquors without a sticker on each bottle. The box is typical from 1812 - 1820 production : burr wood, Morocco leather with gilt friezes, a brass shield inlaid on the cover without a monogram (you can engrave yours, or your coat of arms). Ideal for after dinner whiskies, cognac or liquor tasting. This is a very refined and chic set in very good condition after over 200 years. No accident on the crystal bottles nor the box. The prints inside the lid suggest that there were glasses in the box once. Length : 28.8cm (11" 1/4) Width : 19.5cm (7" 3/4) Height : 23cm (9")
