Deep dish in Manerbe Pre- d'Auge Faience, 16th-17th c. Normandy France

About the Item

“Manerbe Pré-d'auge earthenware hollow dish, 16th-17th century”. Hollow dish with a scalloped shape representing a nude woman in the center (we think of Diana since she wears a sort of crescent moon in her hair; but she is standing on a wheel, like the attribute of Saint Catherine's martyrdom...). Faces, masks and winged angels surround the central scene. The edge is missing in the lower right-hand corner. Manerbe Pré-d'Auge; follower of Palissy. Late 16th/early 17th c.
