About the Item
Polychrome plaque with a flower vase. Delft, 1740-1760
The lozenge-shaped plaque has a raised, accolade-shaped rim interrupted at the top by a large shell and at the bottom by a smaller shell. A shell is also modelled on both sides. The plaque is painted in polychrome. In the centre, a pot of flowers stands on a three-legged table in front of a fence and banded hedges. The depiction is bordered on both sides by floral ornaments. The raised rim is painted with stylised leaf ornaments. Below the upper shell are two hanging holes into which a pewter suspension has been made. A pewter shield engraved with a cross is attached to the lower shell.
