About the Item

Charming hanging plate from Gien with cobalt blue background for hand painted grotesque decorations inspired by fifteenth-century Italy. The motifs in yellow, white and brown highlights depict chimeras, scrolls, bearded men, masks, children. This Italian Renaissance decoration on a blue background also called Gien décor was developed around 1871.
