Charles X White Opaline Plate by Jean-Baptiste Desvignes

Opaline crystal plate decorated with dark blue forget-me-nots and gilded stripes, produced by Jean-Baptiste Desvignes. Desvignes was a French glass painter who gained notoriety for his techniques for painting on opaline crystal and glass using vegetable-based colors that were limited to dark blue and red. Light wear to the gilding, circa 1820. Dim: W 6.7 in – D 6.7in – H 1.2in. Dim: L 17cm, P 17cm, H 3cm.
