Designed in 1964 by Massimo Vignelli of durable BPA-free polymer Melamine, they immediately became award winning icons and inducted into the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art, The Metropolitan Museum, and the Cooper-Hewitt Museum of Modern Art. This set is comprised of 20 large 10” dinner plates and 20 smaller 8” salad plates. All in beautiful soft yellow and ready to grace your dinner table with mid-century modern excellence! This fabulous dinnerware set is exactly what you need for a large family feast, or you can just use a couple for a special romantic dinner with your sweetie or maybe you just want to eat your dinner by yourself…in iconic style! They would also be beautiful in a display cabinet or china hutch. Massimo Vignelli and his wife, Lella began designing dinnerware in 1964, made of BPA-free polymer Melamine. When first designed they were made in Italy; however, that company had financial issues and production was halted. Then, the Vignelli’s met American Alan Heller. And the rest, as they say, is history. Heller bought the molds and re-released the dinnerware in 1971 as his newly founded company’s first product but still produced it in Italy. It was immediately inducted into the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art, The Metropolitan Museum, and the Cooper-Hewitt Museum of Modern Art. The white tableware has never been out of production since. In 1975 production moved to the United States and it was around that time the bright colors were introduced. Don’t hesitate. You should make this fantastic, iconic dinnerware your own.
