Royal Worcester Hand Painted Gilded Dessert Service for Asprey's-17 Pieces

About the Item

This eye-popping complete dessert service was especially made for Asprey's, London in 1937. Imagine who might have owned this custom-ordered set! It consists of 17 pieces which includes 12 dessert plates with hand-painted centers (9" diameter), all artist signed accompanied by a tall footed compote (4 1/2" tall and 9 1/4" diameter), 2 low compotes 2 1/8" tall, 9 1/4" diameter) and 2 serving bowls (9 1/4" diameter). One of the plates is painted with fruits which may have been part of another set. The other 11 plates depict floral bouquets. The acid etched gold on the borders is in mint condition and creates a beautiful optical effect around the center painting. Even the back foot rims are gilded, which was only done on the finest plates.
