Set of 3 Antique Brightly Polished Pewter Plates, English, C.1800
About the Item
Lovely highly polished pewter plates.
All three with London touchmarks on the underside. One with ownership inscription on the front.
The pewter has been polished to its original shine to imitate polished silver. It was known as the Poor Man's Silver.
The great thing about polished pewter is that it will retain its shine unlike silver which tarnishes. It can be cleaned with soap and water.
