19th Century Pair of Bohemian figurative enamelled glass goblets circa 1860

About the Item

19th Century Pair of Bohemian Figurative Enamelled Glass Goblets C 1860 This beautiful pair of Bohemian large goblets are produced in golden brown dimpled glass. They both stand on a broad foot with a folded edge and gilt line. The foot curves elegantly upwards and is decorated around the middle with a white enamelled foliate wreath detailed in red. Above there is a hollow bulbous knop with applied shells and fluted ring top and bottom which form the stem. The vessel is tall and slenderly tapered from the gilt rim down to the stem and is painted to a superbly high standard. Each goblet has a pair of medieval musicians both playing their instruments. The vibrance of this thick enamel in such a rich pallet of colours is amazing. Around each pair of figures, there is a foliate white and red enamelled wreath matching the work around the foot. These are an outstanding pair of goblets, circa 1860. Dimensions: W 10 cm (3.9") x H 22 cm (8.7") x D 10 cm (3.9")
