Wiener Werkstatte Attributed Pair Enamelled Glass Goblets
About the Item
A stunning pair unusual European glass goblets decorated with fine enamelling attributed to Wiener Werkstatte and dating from the early 20th century. The hand-blown goblets stand raised on a shaped round pedestal foot with fold over rim with a hollow blown stem with round knop designs supporting a tall narrow conical shaped body. The goblets have fine white beading applied around the foot and the knop stem with similar patterning creating a panel on the body of the glass which is finely decorated in Austrian style with figures digging in one scene and playing horns with dogs in attendance on the other. The patterning is laid as a brown shadow enamel onto the body of the glass. Both glasses also have fruiting vines applied around the lower stems using similar brown shading for the leaves and simple blue enamels forming bunches of grapes. These stunning goblets are not marked.
Provenance: Acquired in the UK Art Market.
The goblets are offered in good condition with light wear associated with age and use.
