About the Item
Sterling Silver
From our Decanter collection, we are pleased to offer this Rare Art Nouveau Spirit Decanter set by renowned firm Hukin & Heath. The set comprising of a single rounded decanter bottle with a sterling silver mount which branches on either side to hold all six shot glasses. The glasses are on a hinged action which allows the decanter to be poured into the glasses without the other glasses falling out. The Sterling Silver is hallmarked Hukin & Heath, Birmingham and is dated 1910 along with registration design number 493781 and Patent Number 2302-09 20844 to the underside of the lid.
Hukin & Heath were important Silversmiths and electroplaters of Birmingham (1855-1953). Established by Jonathan Wilson Hukin and John Thomas Heath. They registered Birmingham marks in 1875 and London marks in 1879. The firm began working in conjunction with Dr. Christopher Dresser in 1877 and have some of their most notable designs have Dresser’s influence.
Sterling Silver is an alloy composed by weight of 92.5% silver and 7.5% other metals, usually copper. The sterling silver standard has a minimum millesimal fineness (parts per thousand) of 925.
