Art Nouveau French Glass Decanter Set by Emile Galle

About the Item

A beautifully delicate French glass decanter set made by Emile Galle in the late 19th century, decorated in enamels with ribbons and flowers in a lovely lavender and periwinkle palette. This Galle glass set includes a carafe, a footed wine glass, and a tray, all decorated with delicate enamel in the ‘Fleurs et rubans’ design with lovely purples and periwinkles. Its circa 1867 production date precedes the Art Nouveau movement by nearly 40 years, however connoisseurs will note definite similarities between the style’s curvilinear, nature-inspired forms and this set’s scrolling enameled decoration.
