Covered Wine Goblet With Colour Twist Stem, c1730

About the Item

Covered Wine Goblet With Colour Twist Stem, c1730 The tall funnel shaped bowl is cut with three flowers and then bordered with lens and star cuts. The stem has a five thread ruby red wist which is mirrored in the finial. The cover sits comfortably within the mouth of the goblet but we believe that it may be a marriage, albeit an excellent one. Gisela Haase in Scchsisches Glas gives dates for very similar examples with the same colour twist stems produced in Dresden from "before 1722" to 1734.
