Decorchement Pâtes De Crystal Glass Dormouse Paperweight, French

About the Item

A Francois-Emile Decorchement (1880-1970) late Art Deco Pâtes de Crystal 'Loir' Paperweight. Designed 1952, Moulded as a dormouse, in browns and blues signed with a moulded 'Decorchement' in a circular Cartouche see image 3. This was one of his last designs only a handful were ever made. Francois Decorchement was the greatest of the Pâtes de Crystal and Pâtes de Verre makers: the techniques were very complex and the moulds rarely survived the production process so only a tiny number of pieces were made of each design.
