French Legras Art Nouveau Green pink cameo glass vase

About the Item

Gorgeous Vase; France, 19th century. Cameo glass. Signed Legras. Measurements: 12cm. x 4 cm This vase, with a unique design, is made of cameo glass, which consists of making a piece with two or more layers of glass of different colors so that, after immersing it in the acid, the decorative motif remains in relief on a smooth background of different color. It has acid-etched decoration with floral motifs. The Legras firm was founded by Auguste Jean-François Legras (1817 – 1887) around 1864 in St. Denis, near Paris. At the beginning of the 20th century, the firm specialized in the production of cameo glass made with acid, inspired by Gallé's pieces. Legras & Cie. He produced a multitude of pieces for sale, as well as several of special quality for exhibition at international fairs. This is a refined piece , very sought after for art collectors
