About the Item

Wonderful goblet with lid, made circa 1850 in the late Biedermeier period in the Middle of Europe, in Austria. This wonderful object is out of ruby red glass which has a beautiful couloring in the light. The goblet is covered in hand-painted enamel ornaments in multi coulour. These show a variety of different flower tendrils and diverse blossoms. These delightfully hand painted floral motifs are masterfully executed. Flowers and houseplants in general played a major role in this era. Thus this design is entirely in the formal language of the Biedermeier period. The top of the lid, the surrounding edges and the stepped base are partially gilded - here is due to the age in some places a very slight abrasion detectable. However, this object is in a wonderful particularly good state of preservation. Measurements approx.: height 20 cm - 7,9 in, diameter 12 cm - 4,7 in.
