LARGE Barovier & Toso Murano Cordonato d'Oro Gold Leaf Vintage Glass Vase

About the Item

Here is a wonderful large 1950/60's Venetian glass vase, made on the island of Murano, near Venice, Italy. This piece was made by Barovier & Toso, part of the Cordonato d'Oro range. Very similar pieces can be seen in the book 'Italian Glass' by Leslie Pina, pages 31 - 32. In a stunning combination of reddish pink & clear cased glass, with loads of gold leaf inclusions encased in the glass. Still has the Venetian retailer label on the base, which reads "Casa del Regalo Bortoli, Venezia". Underneath this the little remains of the original white and red Barovier factory label can be seen, which was in use from 1936 - 1955. The label is shown and dated in the book Art of the Barovier Glassmakers in Murano 1866-1972 by Marino Barovier. At the time of listing I currently have two of these vases, originally bought as a pair, but listing separately due to slight size and colour difference.
