About the Artist: Matthew Weir's work is characterised by its vitality, its nostalgia for nature and lost paradises, and by the great delicacy of his ceramics, in which horses, fish, mermaids and the characters of his universe are painted with brushstrokes that evoke the fluid world. Matthew Weir was born in London in 1956 and studied Spanish philology before embarking on independent art studies. In 1988 he decided to move to Spain, specifically to Nijar, where he continues to work today as a freelance ceramicist. His ceramics, which bring out the vividness of the colours.
