Regency Cut Glass Lidded Pedestal Jar
About the Item
A very fine antique cut glass jar and matching cover dating from around 1825. The jar stands on a thick square star cut based foot with a narrow slice cut stem and round bulbous body with diamond and prism cut patterning with an ornate wide cut glass petal rim with a cover which rests inside the rim with prism and similar diamond cut elements and with a prism cut pointed finial. A stunning example and part of a small collection of similar period glass originating from an estate in Mayfair, London. The glass is typically not marked. The jar displays well and is a finely made display piece which appears to have spent much of its life displayed in a glass display cabinet.
Provenance: originates from a private collection from a house in Mayfair, London.
In good condition with wear associated with age and use but no obvious defects. With wear to the underside of the foot commensurate with age and use.
