About the Item
The coffee pot stands on a circular foot decorated with a wide band of gadrooning. The baluster shaped body rises to a reeded rim and the front is engraved with a contemporary Armorial surrounded by a crossed branch and flower head cartouche with tied drapery swags above. The elegant cast spout is decorated with leaf capping and the fruitwood handle is attached to the main body with a lozenge shaped and Rococo shell moulding. The high domed cover is decorated with reeding and a gadrooned band and terminates in a cast bell finial. The coffee pot is in excellent condition and is fully marked in the foot and with the maker's mark and sterling mark on the interior of the cover. The arms are most interestingly a play on words, as they contain a ships wheel, and they are the arms of the Wheelock family of county Cheshire.
