19th Century French Jaspe Country Pitcher
About the Item
Jaspe terracotta glazed ceramic country pitcher with a background of butter yellow with a swirl pattern of blue and burnt umber. Made in the Savoie region of France toward the end of the 19th Century.
Jaspe pottery is typically marble-like swirls of colors or geometric designs of lines and dots. The colors are most often in earth tones of rust, green, brown, and yellow. This pottery was country pottery and meant to be used. I love this unique style of pottery, it is so fun to mix and match the different patterns.
