About the Item

Gorham Museum quality mixed metals Gorham sterling silver water pitcher #740. It is adorned with applied copper elements including flowers, an applied copper butterfly, applied large stork/egret/bird in flight, and applied copper cattails. There are also applied sterling elements on the rim and rosettes on handle and the interior is gold-washed. It measures 8 3/8" tall x 7 3/8" x 5 1/2" and weighs 33.91 ozt.. The hand hammering on this piece is superb. A work of art. Among the most exciting and innovative periods in American silversmithing are the years between 1867 and 1887, a period of creativity in form inspired by the influence of the Aesthetic design movement and the growing interest in all things Japanese that permeated the American consciousness in the late 19th century. 100% satisfaction guaranteed!
