Beautiful & quite unique Art Nouveau STEIN " DEER " The design of the motif is typical of Art Nouveau pewter lid Manufactured by WICK WERKE AG Production Period around 1915 Country of Manufacture Germany H / height: 11cm (without lid) ~ Gew. / weight:710 grs MARKED: WW 7202 :-: in very good condition :-: Wick-Werke, Vereinigte Fabriken Merkelbach & Wick u. Co. Merkelbach, Stadelmann & Co. / Wick-Werke (Act.-Ges.) Head office: Bahnstraße 9, renamed Westerwaldstraße 9, Gartenstraße 3, Grenzhausen, Hessen-Nassau, Prussia. (now Höhr-Grenzhausen, Rhineland-Palatinate) Earthenware and stoneware factory, artistic pottery and zinc foundry / earthenware and stoneware artistic pottery and pewterer. On the basis of a company agreement dated 14 January 1922, Wick-Werke, Vereinigte Fabriken Merkelbach & Wick u. Merkelbach, Stadelmann & Co, was registered as a joint-stock company on 7 March 1922 and changed its name to Akt. - Ges. Wick-Werke, Vereinigte Fabriken Merkelbach & Wick u. Merkelbach, Stadelmann & Co. 498 of the 2500 shares went to Emma Wick, née Merkelbach, wife of (Konrad) Ludwig, Wilhelm (Willy) Wick and Rudolf Georg Friedrich Wick, the rest to Kurt Gretschel, Commercial Director of Triptis / Thuringia, together with the bankers, Gebrüder Arnhold of Dresden. (Konrad) Ludwig Wick still provided the artistic direction. By 1927, Triptis A.G. had become the new owner, although the name Wick-Werke was retained. By resolution of the board of directors on 4 March 1936, the name of the company was changed to Wick-Werke Aktiengesellschaft. In 1935/6 Roderich Gretschel was replaced by (son?) C. Gretschel. In 1937, Wick-Werke Aktiengesellschaft changed its legal form from a public limited company to a partnership or limited partnership company and thus also its name to Wick-Werke. By 1941, Paul Wilsch was running the company, with members of the Gretschel family running branches in Oberlanstein & Vienna. Wick-Werke continued production until the company went bankrupt in 1984. The factory was demolished in 1999. The following designers either designed pottery for Wick-Werke or applied their decorations to standard pieces.Theodor Otto Hahn, Carl Moos, Paul Neu, Franz Ringer.
