Spanish Terracotta Jug or Pitcher with Bas-Relief Christian Symboles, Midcentury

About the Item

Terracotta jug with yellow glaze. This kind of pitcher is used to keep the water fresh. Made circa 1950, in a traditionnal style, in Astudillo, Spain, with the sentence "recuerdo de Astudillo". A crucifix and three others bas-relief : Mother and Child, woman paying and a pilgrim. Astudillo is a place of prayer for centuries where the believers of the region have always gone to make an act of special devotion to the Virgin Mary, named here Mary Help of Christians. Since May 1, 1984, a pilgrimage has been organized there bringing together thousands of people every year on the same date. Condition : very good condition, a small burst at the base but nothing structural Shipping: D15 H24 1,3 kg.
