Westerwald German Salt Glazed Stoneware Donut Shape Jug

About the Item

A fine and very stylish antique German Westerwald salt glazed donut shaped handled jug decorated with flowers dating from the latter 19th century. The jug stands raised on a conical shaped foot with a recessed base with short stem and donut shaped body with a narrow cylindrical neck and bowl shaped top with a formed pouring spout. An ornate loop handle is applied to the side. The jug is decorated with relief molded patterns with star-burst and triangular style designs some with relief molded floral designs and is decorated in blue and natural glazes over a grey stone body. The jug has impressed makers marks to the base and is numbered 720. In good condition.
