About the Item

From Copeland Spode, in the George III pattern, a crescent shaped side dish server, circa early 1920s. “Spode’s George III” was manufactured by WT Copeland & Sons Ltd. of Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England, especially for Harrod’s of London, and is now discontinued. The bright, hand enameled pattern shows a bird pecking at a basket of fruit. Additional sprays of both fruit and flowers are set against an overall background sheet pattern of delicate blue daisies on a white background. Measures: 8 in. L x 6 in. W x 1 in. H Marked: Blue printed Copeland Late Spode backstamp, with a registration number, and Spode’s George III. Impressed mark: Copeland over crown. Very good condition.

This is a beautiful plate in the Chinese inspired pattern number 4089, produced by the Copeland - Late Spode factory and made of earthenware pottery called Pearl-ware, in the mid 19th century, circa 1850. This plate is well potted with a recessed rim.
