Antique English Very Large Staffordshire B & W Transferware Scenic Platter

About

Exceptional antique English Staffordshire Earthenware B & W transferware very large platter with unidentifiable impressed maker's mark on rear. Unidentifiable "period" impressed makers mark (after exhaustive research in Godden's and Miller's books on transfer-ware and ironstone/earthenware). This pattern is illustrated in Miller's Encyclopaedia of British Transfer-Printed Pottery Patterns, pg. 57 and is titled "Nuneham House - Oxfordshire" and part of the "Rose Border Series". There is a "suspicious" area about two inches long x 1/4 inch high on the top edge where an very old restoration "may" have taken place years ago. It also could be where the transfer pattern crudely overlapped, but it is mentioned for accuracy and priced accordingly. This is a lovely, rare pattern, very large size early 19th century platter.
