Chinese Famille Verte Porcelain Cabinet Plate in Rare Mandarin Duck Pattern
About the Item
Vintage Asian Chinese Famille Verte decorative cabinet plate with exquisite hand-painted details of Mandarin ducks and lotus flowers.
Exquisite decorative porcelain plate Famille Verte Mandarin ducks with lotus, chrysanthemums, and water lilies.
This is a beautifully hand painted example of a Chinese porcelain plate made of white porcelain and hand painted in a charming palette of vibrant colors of blues, yellows and greens.
The plate is delicately hand decorated, overglaze, with enamels of pale turquoise, blue, green, white, burnt orange, and black all in varying shades with good hand gilded detail, a very good example of the high quality painting achieved.
The central decoration shows three ducks swimming in water, all beautifully executed with excellent detail.
The Duck is often depicted on Chinese porcelain and denotes Love and Fidelity.
Dimensions: 1 inches tall x 10 inches wide.
Showcases the double goat mark on the back of the piece which attests to the quality of fine porcelain china.
Made in the 1950s 1960 based on the double goat stamp.
Mandarin ducks in Asian culture.
These birds are a symbol of love, devotion, and fidelity in Chinese culture. The Chinese name for mandarin ducks is yuanyang, which comes from the words yuan and yang, referring to the male and female ducks' different plumage. The belief that mandarin ducks mate for life is said to have spread to other Asian cultures as well. Mandarin ducks are often depicted in pairs in artwork and motifs, and are commonly featured in Chinese weddings
