About the Item
Earthenware plate from the Creil factory, decorated with a mythological scene in a landscape. In this scene, a young man and Cupid are hunting together, accompanied by a Nymph who is holding up a heart in her hand. The young man is wearing a short Roman tunic which exposes half of his chest. Cupid is nude and carries his quiver. The rim of the plate is decorated with alternating gilded masks and heraldic emblems. Marked on the back: Amour montrant à un jeune Homme à viser droit au coeur. (Cupid showing a young man how to aim straight for the heart.) Some wear to the gilding,
