French majolica Asparagus artichoke platter and 6 plates Fives Lille 19th

About the Item

Set of 6 French majolica plates and a platter by Fives-Lille, dating back to around 1890. Designed to serve both artichokes and asparagus, these pieces feature images of both plants. Green glazing is applied on a white background, with deep purple on the asparagus spearheads. The globe-shaped head of the artichoke plant forms a space for dipping sauce. The elegant plate also bears the same king's head motif as the platter, adding a touch of sophistication to the set. The plate is numbered 1028. Reference in the book: "Artichauts et asperges en barbotine" by Maryse Bottero, page 149 (see the last photo).
