About the Item

This is a very good hand painted Mason's ironstone large Platter or Meat Plate, in the Table and Flowerpot gilded pattern, from their earliest George IIIrd period, circa 1818. The piece is well potted with an oval octagonal shape having indented edges with no foot. It is well painted in the recorded chinoiserie pattern called the: Table and Flowerpot pattern, showing a golden flower vase by a small table with a swan sitting on a nest. The pattern is hand enamelled, over-glaze in bold colors of burnt orange, yellow, brown, blue, green, and pink over an under-glaze printed outline, with gold gilding to one side of the vase and part of the edge. The piece is fully marked to the base with a Mason's large crown and banner printed mark color washed in green, together with the single line impressed mark stating: Masons Patent ironstone China, which dates this piece to circa 1818. Overall a very decorative Large Platter or Meat Dish and in lovely condition for a piece over 200 years old.
