A porcelain dessert compote dish, made circa 1820 by the Worcester Porcelain Factory during the Flight, Barr & Barr period. The dish is boldly painted in iron red, soft pink, and deep blue, accompanied by beautiful gold details. The central design is a striking arrangement of flowers. The gadrooned border is gilded; a double band of gilding encircles the pedestal foot. The compote features the impressed “FBB” mark on foot. The Flight, Barr & Barr period of the Worcester Porcelain Factory lasted from 1813 to 1840; the Regency style of this compote dates it to circa 1820. This compote matches our set of four armorial dessert dishes, which belonged to the Colgrave family of Cann Hall, Essex and Little Ellingham, Norfolk (see second image).
