About the Item
Hand carved presentation plate from Statuary marble. Multiple use as plates, platters and placers. The precious white Statuary marble has always been the one preferred by sculptors and artists for their artworks. Known throughout the world, this beautiful marble has been used since Roman times in sculptural art for its luster and compact structure, characteristics that make it perfect to be worked with a chisel.
Dimensions: Small L 24, W 20, H 1.8 cm, also available: Medium L 30, W 28, H 1.8 cm, big L 36, W 35, H 1.8 cm.
Available in different marbles, onyx and quartzite.
100% Hand made in Italy.
Marble is a natural material, every piece is unique as each marble block is different in veins and color shades. All of our creations are handmade by Italian artisans and can slightly vary in shape and size. This is to be considered as a guarantee of a handmade object.
All Pieruga objects are made of precious and natural marbles and onyx. Marble is sensitive to acid-based liquids, especially a prolonged contact with substances such as wine, lemon, vinegar, fruit juices, cola and alcohol can stain the surface.
Cleaning should be carried out with a soft sponge, water and neutral detergent. Do not use metallic or abrasive sponges, do not wash in the dishwasher, do not use in the microwave. The color of the marble after washing can undergo variations due to the humidity trapped in the surface’s micro-pores. Once fully dried it will regain its original color. The brass inlays tend to oxidize over time, to make them return to shine again use a soft cotton pad soaked in a solution of water and traditional Marseille soap, gently rub over the brass inserts and rinse the surface thoroughly. We are against the use of chemical products, all Pieruga objects are processed and polished through long manual processes without the use of polishing liquids.

Gunnell, as the result of a passion followed for a long period of time, creating one-off pieces and collectible design in limited editions; artworks far from the industrial reality. The cultural mix between the two artists with Italian, English and Austrian backgrounds results in unique architectural and interior design projects. From several private clients and collectors emerges the request for the conception and realization of ‘living art’, customized furniture for their special homes. This exclusive ceramic plate is handmade and hand-painted in Italy following the original Renaissance painting technique, unchanged over time, which we observe to the letter: it is decorated in majolica hand-painted in duotone of black and golden yellow, showing an elegant decorative motif of the Deruta tradition which is inspired by a tile found in a local church and suitably reworked in a modern key. The wide brim, with a raised edge and profiled with a finely painted modular ornament, is characterized by an extensive decorative border band where the traditional peacock feather motifs are represented, decorated with delicate shades of golden yellow shaded with cerium white. Naturalistic decorations are depicted inside the large cable, arranged in specular and radial symmetry which branches off from a central hexagonal element and articulates around the circumference, forming elegant golden yellow raceme motifs that stand out against a black background.
