About the Item
A refined set of eleven octagonal Czech porcelain plates, each decorated in a delicate lavender-to-plum transferware scene depicting a romantic garden fountain with figures and architectural details, framed by lush floral vignettes. The design is bordered with scenic cartouches and finished with hand-painted gold trim along the scalloped rims.
Marked “Union T, Made in Czechoslovakia” on the underside, these pieces likely date to the 1920s–1930s, a period when Czech porcelain houses such as Epiag and other Bohemian makers produced richly detailed transferware for export to Europe and America.
Measuring approximately 9 ¾ inches in diameter, the plates exhibit fine craftsmanship and crisp definition in the transfer print. The purple palette, uncommon compared to traditional blue or brown, lends them a distinctive and elegant character.
